The Gift

John 3:27
“John answered, A man can receive nothing [he can claim nothing, he can take unto himself nothing] except as it has been granted to him from heaven. [A man must be content to receive the gift which is given him from heaven; there is no other source.]”
John the Baptist had done his job.
Almost completed his mission.
His mission of preparing the people and their hearts for Jesus.
He was the opener.
The show before the Real Show.
He talked about repentance to the people.
He talked about getting right with God.
He even baptized those who desired it.
He had done exceedingly well.
And now his time was coming to an end.
His notoriety would diminish to let Jesus come in and fulfill His mission.
As I read our verse today, I felt a nudging and prompting by the Lord.
While John was right in saying, “a man can receive nothing except as it has been granted to him from heaven”,
I wondered if we all fully receive the gift?
The mission we are to complete here on earth.
I find myself looking to others and their ministries and wish I could be more like them.
I even try to be more like them for a time.
But God’s anointing isn’t on me to be more like someone else.
His anointing is on me to be more like me and use the gifts He has given me.
To develop those gifts so I can be used to the highest and best of my abilities.
I desire to serve the Lord as He has equipped me to do and not serve as someone else I may admire.
So, the challenge is to become who we are meant to be.
Receive and embrace the gifts God has given us.
Not miss them.
Not miss the mission God has given us.
Today I seek the Lord and His will for me as He equips me to be of service to Him.
May you find the Lord has made you perfectly and has given you the perfect gifts to serve Him as He has determined.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for showing me You have perfectly designed me to serve You in a unique way. Thank You for showing me I need to develop the gifts You have given me so I may serve You to the best of my ability. Help me serve You with the best of me and not with the mediocre me. Help me walk into my highest calling, Father. Help me be completely obedient to You and all You ask of me. Do not let me check in with my feelings and emotions. Help me do my best despite how I feel. Lead and guide my every step today, Lord. Help me follow the Light You shine on my path. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM leading and guiding you My child and have given you the perfect gifts to serve Me well.
Response: Help me follow You and serve You with all my heart and soul, Lord.
