Acts 3:19
“So repent (change your mind and purpose); turn around and return [to God], that your sins may be erased (blotted out, wiped clean), that times of refreshing (of recovering from the effects of heat, of reviving with fresh air) may come from the presence of the Lord;”
Peter was talking to the crowd in this passage.
They were astounded that Peter and John were able to heal a man who couldn’t walk.
But Peter assured them it wasn’t the power within himself that healed the man.
It was the power of Jesus.
Peter began to minister to them.
He offered them the gift of eternal life.
He offered them refreshment for their souls.
I love how our passage tells us what repentance and turning to Jesus does for our spirits.
It’s like a time “of refreshing (of recovering from the effects of heat, of reviving with fresh air)”
that comes when we sit in God’s presence.
I imagine the feeling of summer heat turning cool with autumn settling in.
I imagine a fresh cool breeze washing over me.
And I am lifted into the presence of the Lord.
When I turn to the Lord instead of the world, my soul is lifted.
Of course, there are days when I am not fully aligned with God’s plan.
I step out of His will.
Maybe say the wrong thing to someone or allow fearful thoughts to enter my mind.
These things take me out to of God’s best.
But as I turn back to Him, I am refreshed.
And as I am forgiven, I am lifted into His presence once again.
Today I choose to be connected to the Lord and allow Him to refresh my soul as He lifts me into His presence.
May you find your soul is refreshed and at peace as you reconnect with the Lord by turning to Him and away from the cares of this world.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for reminding me to turn to You and find refreshment for my soul. Thank You for lifting me into Your presence as I reconnect with you and disconnect from the world. May my spirit be lifted into Your presence as I look to You, Father. Thank You for Your living waters today. Thank You that I can come to You at any time, and I find You. You live within me, Father. You are always with me. Thank You for making it possible through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for making a way to draw me close to You and allow me to sit in Your presence and be made whole. I need You, Lord. I need Your very presence with me in all that I do. Keep me attentive to You and be obedient to You. May Your desires be mine today and every day. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM with you My child and will never leave you.
Response: Undeserving of Your love and presence, thank You most gracious and merciful Lord.
