The Wine Was All Gone

Daily Word:
John 2:3,5,7
“And when the wine was all gone, the mother of Jesus said to Him, They have no more wine!”
“His mother said to the servants, Whatever He says to you, do it.”
“Jesus said to them, Fill the water pots with water. So they filled them up to the brim.”
Of course, we all know the story of how Jesus turned the water into wine at the wedding feast.
And when the manager tasted the wine he was impressed.
He called the bridegroom over and commended him for saving the best for last.
I have read these passages many times I saw something new.
This was the first miracle that Jesus openly performed.
His mother told the servants to do exactly what Jesus told them to do.
Their obedience set them up for a miracle.
The task was not difficult.
They were to simply fill the water pots with water.
It was something they would have done often.
Nonetheless, their obedience was required in order to be the recipients of a miracle.
We, then, see that the water pots not only contained wine, but it was the best wine that was served at that wedding.
A finer wine than had first been provided by the bridegroom.
This was the exact opposite of what typically occurred in those days.
The best was provided by the Lord.
A simple act of obedience set up the very first miracle.
Today I choose to be extra sensitive to the whispers of the Lord so that I may hear His commands and pray for obedience to carry them out.
May you find that you have the grace and strength to be obedient to the Lord’s commands and that you will see Him work miracles in your life.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for showing me more about obedience in Your Word and how it leads to miracles. Thank You for showing me how to prepare for a miracle. Lord, I pray that You help me be obedient to You in every way. Help me hear Your whispers and carry out Your commands. No matter how insignificant the task seems, help me do what You ask me to do. And then help me see You work. Don’t let me miss You working in the circumstances of my life. Thank You for watching over me and taking care of me in every way. Help me look to You to defend me, rescue me, and protect me. Quiet the chaos around me as I rest in You, Lord. May Your will be done, always. Keep me in a constant state of surrender as I give my life and will to You. Sanctify my soul, Lord. Forgive my shortcomings and sins and make me holy in Your sight. Thank You for all You do and all You Are. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM with you, My child, to help you do all that I ask.
Response: Help me look to You, Lord, above all else.
