Psalm 9:9-10
“The Lord also will be a refuge and a high tower for the oppressed, a refuge and a stronghold in times of trouble (high cost, destitution, and desperation).”
“And they who know Your name [who have experience and acquaintance with Your mercy] will lean on and confidently put their trust in You, for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek (inquire of and for) You [on the authority of God’s Word and the right of their necessity].”
King David wrote the Lord is a refuge in times of trouble.
And the kind of trouble he was referring to is not unlike what our world is experiencing today: “high cost, destitution, and desperation.”
David wrote that we, who have experienced God’s mercy in the past, know we can lean on the Lord.
We can be confident in Him.
And Trust Him.
Why?
Because the Lord has met our needs in the past.
No matter how desperate we’ve ever been, the Lord has come and met our needs.
We have no reason to believe He won’t do the same today and in the future.
So, while the world is experiencing chaos and fear, we can live in peace.
This is, however, a choice.
We can choose fear instead of trust and confidence in the Lord.
But it will do us more harm than good.
The Lord calls us to lean on Him, believe in Him, and trust in His ability to care for us.
King David tells us the Lord will not forsake those who seek Him.
This is our role – to seek Him.
We read His Word and discover we will be cared for, protected, and watched over.
We find food, water, and refreshment for our souls in the Word.
Today I choose to believe the Lord is looking after me and will provide for my needs and protect me from all spiritual harm.
May you find the Lord is caring for you in every way and will never leave you destitute.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank you for Your Word. Thank You for the Life I find in Your Word. Thank You for overcoming the darkness as I read about You and Your mercy. Father, thank You for always coming to my aid. Thank You for covering me in times of difficulty and distress. Thank You for keeping watch over me and feeding my spirit every day. Thank You for choosing me to know You and worship You, Lord. You could have chosen me for a different purpose, but You, Lord, chose me to seek You. Thank You for showing Yourself beautiful, gracious, and loving. Your heart, Lord, is what I seek. Your Word says I will find that which I am seeking, and You are a faithful God. You continue to show me more of You and Your ways and my heart is full. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM the Great I AM, and I take pleasure in showing you more of Me, My child.
Response: I am so grateful for Your mercy, grace, and undeserved love, Father, thank You.
