Until Calamities Pass

Daily Word:
Psalm 57:1
“Be merciful and gracious to me, O god, be merciful and gracious to me, for my soul takes refuge and finds shelter and confidence in You; yes, in the shadow of Your wings will I take refuge and be confident until calamities and destructive storms are passed.”
This verse spoke to me in a huge way as we go through troublesome times.
King David asked for mercy and grace.
He asked for these things as the calamities and storms were in full swing.
He did not ask that the difficulties be taken away.
He simply asked for mercy and grace.
He also said, “in the shadow of Your wings will I take refuge and be confident until calamities and destructive storms are passed.”
He would hide himself in the Lord’s shadow until the storms passed.
He would be confident until the storms passed.
He would remain strong in the Lord until the storms passed.
I love that he knew his place during the storm.
I love that he knew he could still count on God during the storm.
He was confident of that.
It really made me think that we have choices about the current difficulties of these days.
We can let these difficulties get to the best of us and worry and be fearful.
Or, we can rest in the Lord.
We can be confident in Him.
That is not to say that we shouldn’t take all the necessary precautions, but I do mean to say that the Lord is our hope, our refuge, and our strength.
We can rely on Him.
Today I choose to receive God’s mercy and grace as I weather this storm and remain confident in Him.
May you find that the Lord is merciful and gracious to you, and that He will take you under His wings and keep you safe until the storm has passed.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for Your mercy and grace. Thank You for protecting me in the shadow of Your wings. Thank You for helping me see that I can be confident in You as I watch the calamity and storm pass along side of me. May You continue to strengthen me when I feel weak. Lift me up when I fall down. Keep me close to You, Father. When the things of this world do not make sense, You do. You care for me in every way. Thank You, most gracious and merciful Father, for working in every circumstance of my life. Help me serve You and give to others amidst the chaos of these days. Show me where I can help, Lord. Open my eyes so that I may see the needs of others and quickly come to their aid. May You shelter me and the family You have given me from this storm, Lord. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM with you and your household and will keep you safe.
Response: Thank You, most merciful God and Father.
