Luke 24:49
"And behold, I will send forth upon you what My Father has promised; but remain in the city [Jerusalem] until you are clothed with power from on high."
Jesus had risen from the dead and was communing with His disciples.
What an amazing time that must have been.
Before Jesus ascended into heaven, the disciples had the privilege of eating dinner with Him one last time.
He taught them for the last time here on earth.
Jesus spoke of the Scriptures and gave meaning to them.
Then He blessed them.
These men were the ones who spread the Gospel to the world.
They were part of changing the hearts and minds of all people forever.
Yet they needed one more thing.
The full power from God.
They trusted this power would come to them just as Jesus promised.
So, they waited.
They spent their time worshiping and praising the Lord while they waited.
What a beautiful way to wait!
Sometimes I get impatient and try to move ahead of God’s plan.
But these men didn’t.
Verse fifty-three says, “And they were continually in the temple celebrating with praises and blessing and extolling God.”
Worshiping while waiting is such a better way to wait than complaining which leads to doubt and ultimately, unbelief.
And it was so worth it!
Acts 2:2 says, “When suddenly there came a sound from heaven like the rushing of a violent tempest blast, and it filled the whole house in which they were sitting.”
Amazing!
We, too, are so blessed to have access to God’s power through His Holy Spirit.
We can choose to walk in the power that changed the world or allow the world to have power over us.
Today I choose to walk in the full power of the Lord through the precious gift of His Holy Spirit.
May you find you have full access to the power of the Lord and may you walk in this power today and every day.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for allowing me to walk in Your power through the gift of Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for reminding me this is a gift and a promise from You because You sacrificed Your Son to make it so. May Your Holy Spirit reside in my spirit, so I am able to rise above the circumstances of this life and serve You more powerfully. Strengthen me, Lord, so I am able to do more than I think I can do. Help me be patient and wait on You and the perfect plan You have for me. Equip me fully to serve You. May I sit in Your presence today for a few precious moments and be ministered to by You. Thank You for restoring my soul. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM the Great I AM, and My Spirit is within you to strengthen you in every way.
Response: Help me walk in Your power today and every day, Father.
