Daily Word:
Psalm 5:12
“For You, Lord, will bless the [uncompromisingly} righteous [him who is upright and in right standing with You]; as with a shield You will surround him with goodwill (pleasure and favor).”
I love the last part of this verse, “as with a shield You will surround him with goodwill (pleasure and favor).”
I usually think of a shield as being a symbol of protection.
The Bible often refers to God shielding and protecting us.
But here we see a shield of goodwill.
Pleasure and favor surrounding us.
Imagine this kind of shield.
Jesus came, in part, so that we may have joy.
God wants us to be of good cheer.
He wants us to have happy hearts.
He sent His Son to bring us peace.
And here, we are told that He surrounds us with pleasure and favor.
We serve a mighty, and yet, gracious God who wants the best for us.
Just as I want the best for my children, God wants good things for us as well.
Today I choose to believe that God’s favor and His blessings are surrounding me like a shield.
May you find that God is surrounding you with pleasure and favor this day.
Blessings be to you!
Daily Word:
O Lord, my God, thank You for the blessings You bestow upon me. Thank You for the favor You grant me and the good things that You have in store for me. Thank You for Your Word where I can read about Your promises, gifts, and blessings. Although You are Mighty and all powerful, You are also tender and gracious. Help me feel Your love, Father. Help me know that You desire all the best things in this life for me. Thank You for surrounding me with a shield of goodwill - with pleasure and favor. How blessed I am to receive Your favor, Lord. Help me receive all that You have for me. May my soul be quieted in the storm of today and feel Your perfect peace and love. Fill my soul with Your glory. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I desire that you live with joy and peace as My favor is upon you.
Response: Thank You most gracious God and Father.
