Daily Word:
Hebrews 4:16
"Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God's unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it]."
God's grace and mercy.
Most of my life I have not understood grace and mercy.
When I finally understood what they were, I didn't feel like I deserved either.
But the more and more I read God's Word the more I understand His love for me.
As a mother I relate to loving my children.
And as a mother I have seen my children succeed and fail.
I cheer for their successes.
And I take them in my arms and comfort them amidst their failures.
I could not love them any less even when they fail.
There is nothing they can do that would make me love them any less than I do.
They are my joy.
They are my blessings.
I had a part in making them and in growing them up.
If my love for my children is any indication about the love of God for all of us whom He made, then His love is unconditional and almost unimaginable.
I know His love far exceeds my ability to love.
And so it hard to imagine how much that really is.
His grace and mercy go far and above my ability to offer grace and mercy as well.
The author of Hebrews tells us to, "fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God's unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it]."
Today I choose to "draw near to the throne of grace" and receive mercy for my failures.
May you go boldly to the throne and receive grace and mercy for your failures.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for every ounce of grace and mercy You pour over me. Thank You for forgiveness for my sins and shortcomings. Thank You for sending Your Son as the ultimate sacrifice for me and all Your people, Father. Thank You for saving me and loving me so much more than I can truly comprehend. May You teach me how to love. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit so that I can be who You desire me to be. I want to be more like You every day, Father. I want to love as You love. I want to give grace as You are gracious. I want to shower others in mercy as You shower me with mercy. Help me be Your hands and Your heart and spread Your love to others. Help me bless someone today, Lord. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: My Spirit is within you, My child.
Response: Help me be obedient to Your Holy Spirit, Father.
