Lay Your Burdens Down

Luke 12:29 and 31
And you, do not seek [by meditating and reasoning to inquire into] what you are to eat and what you are to drink; nor be of anxious (troubled) mind [unsettled, excited, worried, and in suspense];
Only aim at and strive for and seek His kingdom, and all these things shall be supplied to you also.
Jesus spends a fair amount of time telling us not to worry and not be anxious about anything.
However, anxiety is rampant these days.
Jesus’ reminder to stay out of anxiety is timely as the Christmas season is upon us.
There are so many things to do.
Some things are pleasant while others are not.
I love being home enjoying all the Christmas decorations, lights, and music.
But I don’t love the shopping and the crowds.
You may feel just the opposite.
The stores are decorated with beautiful ornaments and lights and the hustle and bustle are fun for some.
However, I have to take a deep breath and pray for peace before going out into it all.
Wherever this day finds you, Jesus tells us to be consumed with the heavenly kingdom.
Strive for the kingdom.
Meditate on God.
As our pocketbooks are stretched and the demands on our time increases, let us lay all our worries at Jesus’ feet and allow Him to carry us.
Matthew 11:28 says, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]”
The worries and cares of this world dissipate as we draw closer to our King.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, thank You for working in every circumstance of our lives. Thank You for working out all the details perfectly. Grant us a grateful heart and help us see both the big and small the miracles You do for us each day. Don’t let us miss You in today’s special moments, Lord. Help us reach out to You when we feel hopeless, afraid, and anxious. Help us lay our burdens, worries, and fears at Your feet. Strengthen us today, Lord, and put Your joy in our hearts. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: Give me all your worries and burdens and let Me take care of You.
Response: Thank You for caring so deeply for us, Lord. Help us draw close to You today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
