Luke 11:8
I tell you, although he will not get up and supply him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his shameless persistence and insistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs.
Jesus told His disciples a story about a friend who went to another friend to ask for loaves of bread.
The man knocked on his friend’s door in the middle of the night.
Of course, his friend did not want to get up to do this favor for the man.
But because of his persistence, he got up and gave him what he asked for.
Jesus told this parable to demonstrate the power of persistence.
In fact, Jesus invites us to be shamelessly persistent in our prayers.
Be relentless.
Pray continuously.
There are times when I feel like I am praying and asking for the same things over and over.
I feel like I sound like a broken record to God.
But Jesus tells us to continue.
He also tells us to believe.
In Matthew chapter 8 verse 13, Jesus said, “it shall be done for you as you have believed. And the servant boy was restored to health at that very moment.”
My healing wasn’t restored as quickly as this young boy, but it did happen.
My sickness lasted three years.
God healed my body one cell at a time even when I couldn’t feel it, but I never stopped believing.
We don’t really know what is happening behind the scenes in the spiritual realm.
We just don’t know what God sees, but our role is to pray and believe.
I’ve seen so many miracles in my lifetime.
Some were immediate.
Some took time.
As we move through another Christmas season, let us continue to pray.
Pray that God will make all things come to pass in His timing, and pray we have the strength to stand strong until they do.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, thank You for hearing our prayers. Thank You that we can continue to come to You with the same prayers over and over and You never tire of hearing from us. Increase our faith, Lord, and help us be confident that You are working in all the circumstances of our lives. Help us be patient as we wait on You, Lord. May Your peace cover us, and Your grace be upon us. May we see Your goodness here and praise You for all our blessings. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: I hear your prayers, My child. Be patient as I work out everything according to My plan.
Response: Help us wait on You, Father, for Your plan is better than ours. In Jesus’ name, amen.
