Luke 20:38
“Now He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to Him all men are alive [whether in the body or out of it] and they are alive [not dead] unto Him [in definite relationship to Him].”
The Pharisees and Sadducees became vehemently opposed to Jesus.
They sent spies to ask Him questions they thought would put Him in a precarious situation so they could arrest Him.
However, Jesus answered them with tremendous Wisdom.
One question they asked Him was about a widow and who would be her husband in heaven if her husband and all his brothers died.
Jesus’ reply was that none would be.
He said, “but those who are considered worthy to gain that other world and that future age and to attain to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage; for they cannot die again, but they are angel-like and equal to angels. And being sons of and sharers in the resurrection, they are sons of God.”
As I read this passage, I found such profound love and grace.
First, to be angel-like is almost beyond my capacity to understand and yet sounds so very beautiful.
His ways and plans are magnificent.
May we all learn more of Him and fully accept His love.
Second, pure grace allows us to be sharers in the resurrection.
We are partakers in Jesus’s miraculous conquering of death.
We are raised up with Him in love and perfection.
He died to make it so.
Third, we are sons and daughters of God sharing in the royal heavenly kingdom.
Again, almost beyond comprehension.
If we really knew what this meant, who would we be?
How would walk out the Great Commandment if we really knew we were loved like this?
Lastly, Jesus said the Lord is “not the God of the dead, but of the living.”
He sees us as the angel-like beings He created us to be.
He sees us through His perfect eyes.
Today I am so grateful the Lord chose me to know Him, worship Him, and sent His Son to make it so.
May you find the Lord sees you as the perfect being He created and is living within you today and will for eternity.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for loving me far beyond my ability to understand. Thank You for thinking of me before the earth was ever formed. Thank You for Your perfect plan for me even in this imperfect world. Help me walk out the plan You designed for me. May Your love fill my soul today. Consume my mind, emotions, and spirit, Father. Help me love with Your ability to love. Help me see through Your eyes. And help me serve as You ask me to serve. May Your joy fill my heart as I serve those around me. May Your peace fill my spirit today as I continue to prepare to celebrate Your Son’s birth. May Your peace descend upon this weary world, Lord. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM with you, My child, and My spirit of peace and joy and love are within you, always.
Response: Thank You, most gracious and merciful, Lord.
